About Speed Highway
Speed Highway is a free browser racing game set on a lamp-lit oval circuit. Its title screen reads Speed Racer. Two cars travel in opposite directions, automatically following the track while you switch between the inner and outer lanes to avoid a collision. Headlights sweep across the road, and separate P1 and P2 readouts show each car's speed in KM/H.
Choose ONE PLAYER to control P1 against an automatically controlled car, or TWO PLAYER to share the same screen with another person. P1 earns a point each time it crosses the marked line, and the pace increases as the score rises. A collision between the cars brings up CRASHED. The game stores your best score in the browser, while the clock shows elapsed time.

How to play Speed Highway
- Select ONE PLAYER or TWO PLAYER from the menu. Both cars start moving around the oval automatically, in opposite directions.
- In one-player mode, tap or click the playfield to change P1's lane. On a keyboard, press Shift. Each press switches the target lane; you do not need to hold a steering key through a bend.
- In two-player mode, P1 uses Shift and P2 uses the Up Arrow. On a touch screen, use the left half of the central playfield for P1 and the right half for P2. Mouse clicks work in those areas too.
- Watch the approaching car and switch into a clear lane before the cars meet. P1 adds one point when crossing the marked line. The pace increases with the score, so later encounters leave less time to react.
- Keep going until the cars collide. Use the circular restart button to try again or the back button to return to the menu. For a fresh choice of mode, reload the game before selecting ONE PLAYER or TWO PLAYER.
Lane-switching and collision-avoidance tips
Watch the other car's lane
Look across the oval as well as directly ahead. The cars travel toward each other, so their meeting point arrives quickly. In one-player mode, the other car can change lanes during the run; keep checking its position.
Give each lane change time to finish
The car moves across to its new lane rather than teleporting. Switch while there is still a gap between the cars, especially when they are approaching a bend. Waiting until their noses meet leaves little room to recover.
Avoid repeated panic taps
Every new press changes the target lane again. One deliberate switch is easier to follow than several rapid taps that can send you back toward the approaching car. Watch the result before pressing again.
Adjust your timing as the score rises
The game raises the pace as P1 scores. Use the speed readouts as a reminder to look farther ahead and make decisions earlier. Staying clear for another pass matters more than trying to make a last-second dodge.
